In some pages, like Wiki pages, over on the left hand side of the page, you will find a list of pages under a heading of ‘Recently Modified’. To some of us, this isn’t really useful, and want to remove it.
On the web, I have seen multiple instances of instructions to add a content editor web part, along with an embedded stylesheet with the relevant code for doing this, but since that’s a change that needs to be made on every page on which this list appears, it seems to be more work than one normally wants to do.
If you want to get rid of that menu globally, there is a very simple solution. Go to your master page (naturally check it out) and locate the ContentPlaceHolder titled “PlaceHolderLeftActions” and add:
Check it back in and you’re good to go. Of course, if there are any pages using this for other purposes, those items will not be visible.
You can also go into the individual wiki pages where you need it removed and find the PlaceHolderLeftActions ContentPlaceHolder, and you’ll notice that in that place holder, there’s a RecentChangesMenu control. You can also change this by adding the above code by editing in Advanced Mode. I find that this is a bit easier and more direct than adding a content editor web part and adding embedded styles, but maybe that’s just me.
