At first glance, it might seem difficult to find where you can delete a SharePoint group. Recently, I named a group incorrectly and had to go in and delete it, but for the life of me, I just couldn’t remember where to do it. It didn’t take too long for me to realize that I was in the wrong section in which to accomplish this.
All you do is to go to Site Actions/Site Settings, and then when you get to that page, under ‘Users and Permissions’, click on ‘People and Groups’. Find the user group in the Quick Launch and click on it. Now, even there, you might think you’re in the wrong place because there are no ribbon items and no items in the dropdowns to remove the group. Under ‘Settings’, click on ‘Group Settings’. When you get to that page, until you get to the very bottom of the page, it’s not very self-evident. But, at the bottom of the page, you will see a ‘Delete’ button. Click it.
That’s how you do it.
